Niels Reyes - Cuba
Neils Reyes is a Cuban artist who lives and works in Havana. In 2006 he graduated from the specialty of Painting at the Arts University of Cuba (ISA), culminating a student career started in the field of Plastic Arts from the Elementary Level in his native Santa Clara. Since his training stage, he has maintained an active participation in collective exhibition projects, both in Cuba and abroad. His work has been exhibited independently on many occasions in gallery spaces and Cuban cultural institutions. At the same time, he has presented his work on international stages; among them, the Knoerle & Baettig Gallery (Winterthur, Switzerland), NG Art Gallery (Panama City), Ve.sch Art Space and Gallery (Vienna, Austria) and the Luz y Suárez del Villar Gallery (Madrid, Spain). In his artistic career, he has won awards such as the 1st Post-it Contemporary Art Contest Grand Prize (Havana, 2014) and scholarships from K.K.A. in residence program (Ministry of Culture of Austria, Vienna, 2012) and the Artist in residence program (Ministry of Culture of China, Beijing-Xiaozuo, 2018). His works are part of the collections of the National Council of Plastic Arts (Havana, Cuba), the Los Carbonell Foundation (Panama City, Panama), the Shelley and Donald Rubin Foundation (New York, USA), the Brownstone Foundation (Paris, France), the Xiaozuo Art Museum (Fujian, China) the China Arts and Entertainment Group Collections (Ministry of Culture of China); as well as in a private collections of Luciano Méndez and Steven Cohen.
